Hello fellow book lovers!

It’s been awhile since I shared what’d I’ve been reading, but with the state that our country is in, there’s likely no better time than now to get a good book, curl up in the luxury of your four walls and dive in to a good read.

1. The Third Rainbow Girl - I cannot tell you how I found myself reading this book. She’s not a writer that I’ve read before, but will certainly be on my list going forward. I won’t say much about this book because I could go on for days and give too much away, but this read is a must. If you’ve been following me for awhile, I’m pretty particular about my reads. This is definitely one of those that I say, I doubt someone would find themselves disappointed with their investment of their time.

You can buys The Third Rainbow Girl by Emma Copley Eisenburg here from my Amazon Shop. It’s so very much appreciated!

2. Dare to Lead: Brave Work. Tough Conversations. Whole Hearts. - I loved this book. Honestly, I think there’s something here for everyone to learn. Young and old. Men and Women. There’s so much to be said for having compassion for how others communicate and empathy for where others have been. Confrontation is fun for NO ONE! But, it’s a necessary part of everyones dialog and Brene Brown does an excellent job speaking to it from a scientific standpoint with a human element. Top notch read. I will definitely be reading more of what she has to say.

You can buy Dare to Lead by Brene Brown here form my Amazon Shop. Thank you so much!

3. Minor Dramas & Other Catastrophes - Every wonder if we’ve become too involved with our children’s lives? I mean with all the college admission scandals and all the inevitable judgement that social media provides no matter what approach you choose to raise your child with, perhaps we have? This read gave some interesting and comical perspective to it all. I found it to be a page turner and found it difficult to go to bed at a reasonable time each evening as I didn’t want to put it down. And I’m glad I didn’t because the ending was just so damn satisfying. I’m going to have to get an ounce of helicopter parenting I have out of my system while my littles are still young!

You can buy Minor Dramas & Other Catastrophe’s by Kathleen West here from my Amazon Shop!

4. Eight Dates - This has been probably the most powerful book I’ve read in years. My husband and I found ourselves pregnant with our first child VERY quickly after we got married. And then, found ourselves unexpectedly pregnant against all odds with our second far sooner than we were prepared for. Needless to say, we just didn’t have a lot of time to ourselves before our life together got very big, very chaotic, and very fast. I would definitely recommend to anyone starting out in a relationship they feel like could go the distance, but I also think this is an excellent read for married couples and cohabiting couples as well. I really believe in the Gottman’s approach to intimate relationships and healthy communication and this book dives into eight serious topics that all couples find themselves coming up against at one point or another. This guided book really allows people to dig deeper and develop a healthy respect for their partner in having a better understanding why they work the way they work and helps to create an appreciation for the differences we all have inside our intimate relationships with our partners. For me, it was entertaining, insightful, and an incredible investment in my marriage.

You can buy Eight Dates by Gottman & Abrams here at my Amazon Shop. You won't regret it!

5. Small Great Things - I can’t say enough great things about this book. It was recommended to me by a client of mine and I’m so glad I read it. There were definitely uncomfortable parts in reading this book, but the message is so powerful and sheds light on some very controversial topics. With so much going on in our nation surrounding race and sex, this read hit right at the heart of it all and opened my mind up to things I had personally never thought of. I’ve always Jodi Picoult, but I can say wholeheartedly, that I think this is her best novel yet.

You can but Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult here from my Amazon Shop

6. Sustainable Home - Last, but definitely not least, this book has given me so many ideas for a more sustainable way of life. I made a commitment to myself at the beginning of this year to make my home far more earth friendly and a healthier living environment for my family. I have so much background and education in sustainable living and healthy homes, but life had consumed me and I had become a consumer. Having a more environmentally friendly home is good for EVERYONE and this book is inspiring and practical. Not to mention, the book is beautiful! Best of both worlds.

You can buy Sustainable Home here on my Amazon Shop. I want to consume less, but a girl still needs to make a living ;-)
