“respect your body. it’s the only one you get.”
Around six months postpartum after my second child, I decided that it was really time to start focusing on myself again and getting my health in check. I felt like I avoided yoga for years. I felt like it was too slow for me and liked being challenged by high intensity workouts before I had children. However, so many people that I love and trust continued to suggest that I give it a shot in order to get more balanced both physically and mentally. So, I determined that there had to be something behind all the suggestion and figured that there was no better time than the present to dive in and see what it was all about.
I’m happy to report, I’ve fallen in love. The mind, my mind anyway, needs the quiet. Needs the breathing practice. And I NEEDED the time to myself to get centered in order to be the best business owner, wife, mother, and friend that I could be. I’ve come to know, that I’m a far better person by investing the time and practice of yoga into myself. So, for this Fashion Favorites Edition, I’ll be sharing my favorite yoga finds!
MATS
Whether you like something a little more simple or something fun and graphic, I’ve got a little something for everyone.
1 - BalanceForm GoYoga 1/2” Thick - $17.95 I bought this yoga mat back when I first started. The density of this mat is excellent for beginners. I felt that the depth of it was easier on my knees and wrists when I started out and the extra thickness is helpful when you’re learning to get a hold of your balance. Trust me, if you’re a newbie, this is a great buy.
2 - Liforme Yoga Mat - $149.95 The MackDaddy of yoga mats. The alignment markings! The revolutionary anti-slip grip! Planet friendly!! I’m so excited about this mat. It has wonderful ratings and comes highly recommended by all my favorite yogis I follow. This is my next purchase for sure!
3 - Kess InHouse Pom Graphic - $21.26 This is such a fun mat! I bought this one for when I want some pattern and I’m on the go. I think the thinner weigh mats are really great for leaving in the car in the event you decide you want to hit a yoga class or go take a minute in the park on a lunch break. I get soooo many compliments on this mat!
4 - WITHit Premium Yoga Mat - $29.99 This mat is just down right fun. The graphic print is a great choice for those souls that just looooove color. Other than being REALLY attractive, it’s lightweight and has an excellent grip system on it’s reverse side.
WATER BOTTLES
I’m personally on the glass water bottle train. In order to get my hormones balanced out correctly after having babies, I’ve given up plastic. But, I still love a great water bottle. They help keep me on track with my water consumption throughout the day and I can’t live without one in a hot yoga class.
5 - Yomious Glass 20oz - $16.99 I couldn’t help myself with this one. The bamboo lid and silicone sleeve had me hooked. But, I do love it. It’s got a wide mouth and hasn’t cracked under any extreme temperatures.
6 - EQUA 25oz with Faux Leather Sleeve - $25.00 This was a must for me. It’s attractive, but I really like it because of the leather sleeve. In my car, the silicone cases that a lot of glass water bottles have gets stuck in my cup holder. The removable sleeve on this is nice when I’m going to be spending a lot of time in the car. When I get to my destination, I slip the sleeve back on and go about my business. The gold top and metal handle are a pretty added bonus.
7 - Simplistic Plus Rose Quartz 17oz. - $39.95 If you’re into the revitalization of body and mind through the use of crystals, this water bottle is for you! What an easy way to get the energizing and healing that comes along with the use of crystals. The all natural gem stone is food grade and definitely gives your water bottle a stand out look.
8 - Blender Bottle Glass Shaker - I use Advocare Spark and I love a great protein shake. If you’re moving away from plastic bottles, this is a perfect option for you. I have it in two colors already and wouldn’t mind having another. This size is great and the loop at the lip makes for easy carrying.
LEGGINGS
Of course, all activity requires a great pair of leggings. For me personally, I like something high waisted. I like it to stay in place. And I like both great neutrals and fun prints.
9 - Pineapple Clothing Perfectionists Lucy Leggings - $65.00 I CANNOT say enough GREAT things about these leggings. They feel like friggin silk! They hold their shape, they stay put, and they are made of sustainable material. I stumbled upon this brand on Instagram and I love them sooo much I could live in them! You can use my personal discount code to receive 20% off your order. Seriously, you won’t regret it. I love this pattern since my style is on the minimalist side, but they have a HUGE assortment of patterns to choose from. Discount Code - heasch
10 - Zella Live In High Waist Leggings - $54.00 These are a basic and a staple for me. They are my go-to when I need to run from class and then out to take care of some errands or pick up my kids. The fit is fantastic and they are so flattering. The fabric washes great and I never have to worry about them losing their shape. Great pair of leggings to build your workout wardrobe around.
11 - Naked Feeling 7/8 Yoga Pants in Marble - $20.99 I’ll be honest, I purchased this because I absolutely LOVED the pattern. However, once I received them, I couldn’t believe how happy I was with them considering the price! They look great and pair with almost all colors I have in yoga tops and sports bras. They do come in a few other colors, but I’m a big fan of my marble print. As a bonus, they have a couple hidden pockets, which come in handy!
12 - Palm Beach Lucy Performance Leggings - $65.00 These again are from Pineapple Clothing. I loved my first pair SOOOOO much, I had to buy another. As an Interior Designer, I couldn’t help myself with this print! It’s so graphic and fun. And I’m a big believer that if you’re going to be wearing workout gear at least 5 days a week, a girl deserves to have a little fun! Here’s my 20% discount code to use for your purchase! EXTRAS
I like having a few extras for classes and such. Here’s a few of the additional items I’ve purchased that I absolutely love.
13 - ELENTURE Full Zip Yoga Bag - $15.98 Not everyone likes having a bag for their mat. A lot of women and men that show up in the classes I take, show up with their mats carefully rolled with no problem. For myself, I put my yoga mat in the back of my car and by the time I arrive, it’s rolled all over the place and is unrolled with dog hair stuck to it. So, I bag it up and I love the bag I went with. The black and white stripe is soooo my personal style, but it doesn’t come in quite a few color ways. It has two additional pockets and the strap is adjustable.
14 - Quick Dry Microfiber Towel - $16.99 When I take a hot yoga class, or spin class, I sweat a lot. Having a quick dry microfiber towel has come in handy more times than I can count. These towels wash up great and I love that it comes in a really large size that covers my entire mat during a hot yoga class.
15 - YogaAccessories Traditional Mexican Blanket - $19.99 I’m still fairly new in the yoga world, so I have to use my blanket quite often. I use it as a block, a seat, and a blanket during the meditation period of classes. I actually use it far more often than just in my yoga practice, but I’m surprised at how handy it has come in.
16 - JBM Yoga Strap and Blocks - $19.99 At first, I wasn’t sure what people used these for. But, as I continued to explore new classes and such, I found that the blocks were really helpful and I learned to lean in and deepen poses. The strap is great for getting that additional stretch. This is a great set at a great price.
