Reading List | January 2019

Here’s what I read in January this year!

This Life I Styled | January Reading List

When the beginning of the year began, I promised myself that I would do more reading and spend a little less time watching tv in my evenings. I’m not forcing anything or setting any strict goals for myself. But, I thought I would share what I do make it through and give my thoughts on each. I love reading and after a month of this subtle, little change in my life, I’m really happy with my commitment to doing something just for myself!

NO BAD KIDS: TODDLER DISCIPLINE WITHOUT SHAME

Author: Janet Landsbury

This Life I Styled | January Reading List

This book came highly recommended to me by a mommy group that I was apart of when my first son was born. As my first born gains more and more autonomy, he becomes more and more bold, brave and defiant. I suppose they don’t call them the “terrible twos” for no reason! Although Janet Lansbury’s recommendation are a far cry from the way I was raised, I saw a great deal of tips and methods to apply with my toddler that I would not thought of otherwise. Her approach is through respectful parenting and encourages parents to see the world a little more through their child’s eyes. I found a lot of valuable information in this read and would highly recommend it for those of us that are wondering exactly how we should manage those crazy tantrums, testing of boundaries, and shocking behaviors that come up here in their during our children’s young years. No Bad Kids. - $10.79

GIRL, WASH YOUR FACE

Author: Rachel Hollis

This Life I Styled | January Reading List

This book was recommended to me by a good friend. I think I read this inside of a week! The author shares her personal experiences with the “lies” we live by that are more or less imposed on us by society. I found her to be honest and vulnerable. Some of her life experiences were shocking, but relatable. I felt inspired by her and the journey that she’s traveled. She’s now a successful life coach and shares her story in the hope of helping others. For me personally, I didn’t feel like it was so much a “self help” book, but more of a woman sharing with women. It’s easy read and I think that every woman will find something that they can take from it. Girl, Wash Your Face - $13.79

A SIMPLE FAVOR

Author: Darcey Bell

This Life I Styled | January Reading List

Full disclosure, I wanted to read this book because I’m still completely enamored by Blake Lively and I knew she was going to be in the movie. I suppose I will forever be a Gossip Girl fan at heart! None-the-less, I wanted to read the book before I watched the movie and I’m so glad I did. For those of you who have already watched the movie, I still urge you to read the book. I was pretty shocked at how many differences there were between the book and the movie. It’s certainly a twisty read and I’m eager to read another book by Darcey Bell. A Simple Favor - $14.39

WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LULULEMONS

Author: Lauren Weisberger

This Life I Styled | January Reading List

If you liked The Devil Wears Prada, you’ll enjoy this read. Emily Charlton serves as the predominant character in this book and she has the same strong personality she had in The Devil Wears Prada, yet the story goes an entirely different direction! It’s a fun, leisurely read about the friendship of three woman, their careers and lives, and the strength they have together in their loyalty to one another. It’s a girls-girl kind of read that is great for a snowy day in, a read on the beach, or just like me, just some easy reading in the evenings before bed. When Life Gives You Lululemons - $14.99

I’m always looking for book recommendations, so if you have some great reads, please share!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
