Summer Blues | Wedding Guest Attire
With two weddings come up in August, I've been on the hunt for a couple new dresses for the last few weeks. I feel like after being pregnant for what has felt like FOREVER, I'm so eager to get myself back into something pretty and a pair of heels! One of the weddings is in South Carolina (my inner Southern Girl is doing a happy dance) and the other is Western Washington. Both warm and both very pretty locations. I've been having a sort of love affair with blue this spring and summer, so I've found some gorgeous options that will hopefully coordinate with my tiny "plus one!" And because the newborn is nursing, I've had to keep that in mind while selected a dress or two!
1. Cold Shoulder Wrap Maxi - I'm so hopeful! I really think this dress is beautiful and feminine. I also like that I feel I could wear it to a lot of different events besides just a wedding. I think a wrap dress is a great way to address the nursing detail.
3. Classic Blue Striped Shirtdress - I have to be honest, this dress is probably my favorite! It looks chić and is really well made. My biggest concern with this dress though is that the accessibility for nursing doesn't exist. If I love it though, I'm most likely keeping it for the long haul!
5. Gingham Off-The-Shoulder Maxi - I am such a sucker for Gingham! This dress has a lot of things going on with it, but I find myself so attracted to it. I think styled with a contrast belt could be very pretty. The weight of this fabric could be a problem. !
7. Floral High-Low Wrap Dress - I'm picky about floral prints, but they are so on trend right now and this dress is irresistibly feminine. Because the majority of this dress is a soft white, i would recommend checking in with the bride if she's a friend. Definitely avoid all white, but I think a white background with a print is fine for summer.
2. Patterned Maxi - I think this dress is so classy! I love the pattern because I don't think its overwhelming. I like the sleeve because I think that it lends itself to be worn all year long. The drawback is that this one could be a little too warm for summer.
4. Quintessential Southern Belle Maxi - I do believe that this dress is so perfect for a Southern wedding... Again, this is really well made, but I feel like I might run into the exact same issue at the dress before. How would I nurse my child in this dress? Is it worth keeping for something other than a wedding?
6. Striped Off-The-Shoulder Maxi - This is a more streamlined version of the Gingham option. I feel like if that dress feels too busy, this dress could be the perfect alternative. The quality is spectacular and vertical stripes are great for creating height.
8. Fit & Flare Gingham Midi - This dress has slightly more casual feel, but I love a lot about it and think it could easily be dressed up. I think the button front is a great detail. The length is very popular right now and I think it looks great with a pretty wedge sandal. And, as any true girl from the south, I think Gingham print is so perfect for summer.
Everything has been ordered and I can't wait to receive these gorgeous dresses next week! Stay tuned for a try-on sesh where I'll decide the winner (or two) and share how I plan on styling it up!
